The Squire, His Knight, and His Lady, by Gerald Morris, is told in 3rd person and focuses on Terence, a squire that serves Sir Gawain, and tells the tales of their many adventures. So far the tale of the Green Knight has been the focus of this book. This book is about King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table. I have been a little prejudice against books about Merlin and King Arthur because I'd always assumed they were historical fiction, which they might be I have no idea and I normally don't like historical fiction. Speaking of which, that is one of my personal questions How do King Arthur, Merlin and the Round table knights change in books and why? So far Merlin was his advisor and disappeared near the end of the book.
This book is interesting because it tells how knights, courts, and things were like back then. Like there were some show knights or tournament knights that didn't really fight besides tournaments and quests. Then there were knights that fought in wars, did quests, and helped people. It also told how boring peace could be when the knights were at the castle and had nothing to do or weren't on a quest. I really like how it uses some language from that time period but is careful not to overwhelm the reader. Another thing I like is in one part of the book Terence sees a bow and arrows for the first time and doesn't know what they are and calls them things like "a long bent stick and several shorter sticks". I wouldn't have thought of that.

Fishing this Weekend 8/24/13
I went fishing this weekend with my parents and grandparents. I got to sleep in late and was the last one up. Then we got in the boat and idled out of the canal where our camp was. We stopped once to try a slip (a narrow branch off of a canal) it started raining lightly when we left that spot but we kept going. When we got out of the no wake zone (where you can't make any waves with the motor) we went really fast on plane, it was a little cold and the rain stung a little but we weren't discouraged. We tried 3 different spots. At the last spot we caught the most fish, it was one after the other but they were barely longer than my foot. We were forced to go in as some big black storm clouds got closer and closer, we barely made it back before it started pouring down rain!

Starting School
We've been in school about a week now and so far I think I like history the most. Its still hard to tell this early in the school year. I like history and it has been interesting learning about how historians work and stuff so far. I'm excited about science too, I like biology and have biology honors this year. Another thing about biology, I already knew my teacher from the tennis team because he coaches tennis too.
Over the summer I read a lot, but I ran out of books! I really missed the library and the book club at school. At the end of the school year the library got lots of new books and I can't wait to read them. The only thing is last year it was only me and one of my friends in the book club.I also missed my friends and it is nice to see them again.

Reading Response Insurgent
I read Insurgent over the summer and I enjoyed it a lot. What I liked most was the part about Amity's bread because it was so funny and it was a break from the seriousness of what was going on. They put this happy stuff in the bread and they end up giving Tris to much and she acts funny. It surprised me when the fractionless joined the war and Four didn't listen to Tris about what she thought of their plan. He asked her to come so he could hear her opinion then kind-of accused her of being biased. This is one of the best dystopian books I had read in a long time. I like how your only know what Tris knows and thinks, your not this character for two pages then that character for five pages.
